Textile finishing includes all processes converting textile raw materials into usable, high-duty or aesthetically attractive products. Nowadays, almost all textiles undergo finishing in some way or other. The variety of finishing techniques, and thus the range of effects that can be achieved, has constantly increased over the last few years.

The diversity of finishing techniques calls for sophisticated technological equipment. It includes both finishing plants and laboratory equipment as well as costly systems to avoid emissions. Textile finishers are constantly facing up new challenges as a result of the strict environmental requirements in Germany and the varying requirements on textiles in terms of function and aesthetics. As a consequence, textile finishing is today the most innovative branch of the textile and clothing industry.
